Oh, the joke is that one would just call the store rice because it is the smallest thing they sell. I’m still on the lookout for a store that actually refers to itself as “rice.”

I had gotten so used to thinking of it as just the metal fastener that I guess I forgot about the other meaning of a “staple.”

Staples, I think, is an awesome store name, mostly because of the double entendre. Staples are a small item u can buy, but they idea is that they sell all the staple goods of a small business office.

(N) a short piece of wire bent so as to bind together papers, sections of a book, or the like, by driving the ends through the sheets and clinching them on the other side.

(N) a principal commodity in a mercantile field; goods in steady demand or of known or recognized quality.
